The Kelpie Acquisitive Art Award commenced in 2011 organised by the Casterton Kelpie Association’s Ann James and Sharon McGrath.  The association would transform the Casterton Town Hall into the most spectacular display of artworks from across the national.

From  2011, Artists have been given the opportunity to take out the grand prize of being awarded the Kelpie Acquisitive Artist prize and have their artwork displayed at the Australian Kelpie Centre for all to enjoy.
